I like pie... pecan pie.
Was in Chem all day. Did a LOT of tests. Neat. Ran the analyzer by myself mostly but with a few assists from Marilee when I had questions. Chemistry people are nuts. I like that. Terry, Marilee and Judy are my faves. They're crazy.
My shoe that I glued back together fell apart again. Dammit! Now I have to go buy some more white sneakers. Think I'll go to the Shoe Dept. and get some New Balance. They'll be expensive but they won't fall apart like those damned Danskin ones. :S I am also thinking of getting some magnets so I can make frames to post my newest ATCs on my locker. Everyone at Hanover loves my artwork.
Seriously. They love it. I gave John the web address for Art Fumes, my comic, and he posted it on the freakin' bulletin board in the break room!!
This is a link to the sparkly watercolor paints that I use in case you want to A) see what they look like or B) want to buy some.
Tonight, I am going to sit on my tuckus, watch tv and artsy fartsy.
Tomorrow, I have to go buy some shoes and put gas in Lil Red.

Hullo!
OK. Uh. Today was over all good. Woke up late so I was rushing like crazy to get ready and go to rotation/internship but I made it. :D
Spent today in chemistry with Marilee. She is crazy. I like her. :D We ran the ECI and farted around. Time flies in Chemistry. We had a lot to do and when we didn't we had a lot to read!
Phlebotomy was cool. Got 4 sticks tonight. :) Got each one.
Got my FIRST pay check for working as a phlebotomist/vampire. It was a sum total of $0.00. Seriously. The hospital gives you a badge to identify you and give you access to certain areas. You can also charge stuff to your paycheck in the cafeteria and the gift shop. So, I paid for coonwulfs present with my id badge... next pay period, I charged my donkey. I will, however, get money then. I've worked more than just 2 hours already this week. :) That will pay for Ramona.
Speaking of Ramona, I had some free time today during rotation. I did a quickie sketch and I think that Ramona is going to be my farmer/country character. :D She looks cute like that. I don't know if the name fits that well but I'm going to keep it that way. She may just be an extraneous/infrequent character in the comic - like Wallace Golarzi the lizard - instead of a main one.
I finished coonwulfs birthday gift, too. It looks fabulous! :D
I'm going to go read or play video games.
Oh! I have a funny story for you:
I didn't have anything to do Tuesday while I was in the phlebotomy area. I asked the girls there what they usually do when no one's around and they replied that they read or play solitaire. So I got my book out of my backpack. One of them asked me what I was reading. Now, you all know what a nerd I am. My answer, "I'm reading The Ghost Map. It's about a cholera outbreak in the 1800s in London that lead to sanitation reform." One of the other vampires replied, "COOL!" Another said, "Does it talk about the disease as well as the reform?" ...ah... my people. :D <3 |

| | bored | ] | Just wanted to stop by and say that I'm alive. Sadly, I really don't have any more to add to that. Everything is fine - just boring. Ha ha!
I did want to post about this, however: The Museum of Bad Art. http://www.museumofbadart.org/index.html It's in Dedham, MA. May have to take a road trip. Now, keep in mind that it isn't ALL bad... it's just that there is a lot of hidden errors, like the scene of the organist in the church where there is absolutely NO form of perspective at all. Actually, there is perspective but it's coming from all over the place! (See this painting here: http://www.museumofbadart.org/collection/unseen-4.html) So, what I wish to impart to you is that, no matter how poorly your artwork is, there is someone out there who is worse than you... but thinks they're Da Vinci! ;) |

Also in the news, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARKY RAMONE!
Clinical rotation was fun. I got to play with Dave, the Dimension analyzer. (Where do companies get the names for these things?) The company that makes the analyzer is called Dade Behring. Terry's daughter saw a bag with Terry's notebooks in it and asked, "Who's Dave Behring??" thus the analyzer was named. Basically, the machine can do several types of tests on blood and urine but the thing is getting old so the only tests run on it are blood alcohols (for both medical and legal purposes). Since the thing is getting so old, DB is soon going to stop making support materials for it. :S So, Dave maybe moving out. I can't say I'm upset because you have to use TCA - a strong acid - as a reagent to run the tests!
After rotation, I went down to the out patient area and did phlebotomy for a couple of hours. I have now worked enough hours to cover my purchase of a donkey (Ramona) and a present for coonwulf. (Gadzooks! I almost wrote what I bought for him! Oy! My brain! It goed bad and no do work no more.)
Oh yes. Speaking of coonwulf, I have been working on said birthday present. No, it isn't a con badge. >:D EVIL!
Got my badge in from likeshine today. Super cute. I will scan it in later. I must say that I am quite pleased with it.
Well, I'm off to try to finish the present. *Wiggles eyebrows* |

First day in Chemistry. Still haven't felt the sizzle of the department yet. Blah.
I can't tell if this http://tinyurl.com/55mbfo is just weird or absolutely brilliant. I like the fact that it is fake fur and not a real dead rat but it is just out right weird. I may have to get one for my brother's Christmas present. I can also see my uncle O'Dell having one of these.
Not much else happening. That's good. :)
Dad switched cel phone plans and we now have free texting. Whoo hoo!
I think I need to go fix supper. |

More Artist Trading Cards: http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/rainoubliette/ATCs/
If you don't look at all of the cards through the above link, at least look at these: "Bison" http://tinyurl.com/64463r I'm quite proud of this guy. The hide looks like a real bison. You can't tell it through this scan but he is sparkly. "El Dorado" http://tinyurl.com/64q293 In some stories, El Dorado isn't a city of gold, but a man. Thus, I drew/painted this jaguar in gold. He is also painted with the sparkly watercolors. "Standing On The Porch" http://tinyurl.com/5qkmub This is similar to the card I drew for Yuchi. I liked her card so well, that I decided to make a series of western porch scenes using my own characters. This one is of Rain standing on a porch looking out over the UT scenery. "Japanese Red-Crowned Crane" http://tinyurl.com/5g9776 All done in sparkly watercolors. It glistens as if the crane is really standing outside in a mist.
I scanned in a bunch of other cards, too, but these are the ones I really wanted you to see. Also, if you go to the big link, you can see some of the others that are pretty good (Like the one "Spongebob Helps Lorin Wash The Car"). I didn't scan all of the cards up to PhotoBucket.
Also found and cleaned out my old tackle box that I carried to art school. It held all my pens, markers, erasers, paints, brushes, etc. in it. I transferred all my cartooning supplies to it. I then put my watercolors into the kit that had the cartooning stuff. Now I have a little tool box without anything in it for now.
I don't plan on doing much else this evening.
OH! I do have a question:
I am thinking of selling some of my ATCs on eBay and at a convention next year. What do you think of this as a price list?

art_fumes has been updated for today.
Feel wonky but better than Thursday and Friday! Whoo!
Had a nice dinner with Barb. We then went to Stampede for our art club retreat. Robert was there. He's so loud and never shuts up. Oy! Good thing I had that martini before I went to retreat. I got some more watercolors - those sparkly ones. I also made some more ATCs. :)
Came home. Watched the car race between the commercials of the stuff that was on about HMS Titanic. Drew some more.
Today is get some of my tool boxes reorganized. Maybe work on scanning in my ATCs so I can post them later. |

Hey Yuchi! I have your card finished!!
OK. I actually did two:

The one on the left is: Yuchi Goes Native and is done all in watercolor. The right one is: Hanging At the Dude Ranch done in marker and a photo I took. I hope that you don't mind that I drew Yuchi showing a little thigh in the right side one. Also, I gave her gray boots since I didn't draw her feet paws.
All copyrights are retained by Yuchi-Da-Yena (for the character) and Me for the artwork.
Hope that she likes them. |

Guess how much a 1921 Liberty Head Silver Dollar is worth! About a dollar. Ok. Not really. Actually, it's about $15... mostly due to the fact that it weighs around an ounce, is high quality silver and said metal sells around $12 an ounce. Think it's time to trade in some of my jewelry! (Oh... and I do have a 1921 Liberty Head Silver Dollar. It belonged to my maternal Grandmother and my uncle after Gramma died. So, I'm not going to sell it - I just wanted to see what it's value is.)
No, I'm not feeling a whole lot better. I still have the queasy stomach but I don't have the migraine. So, no headache means somewhat better.
Had to run errands: go to bank, put gas in car, went to Goodwill and Dollar General. First two were uneventful. At Goodwill, I found this shirt for $3.50... now, it's a totally weird, tie-dyed thing with embroidery on it. I found it in - of all places - on the nightgown/pajama rack! There were even scrubs in amongst the nightgowns, lingerie, etc. (For the record, would YOU buy lingerie you found at Goodwill?? I mean, that's like buying used lipstick or underpants! :P) Anyway, it's a neat-o shirt. I will wear it tomorrow and - hopefully - get a photo of me in it. I also bought a few things for coonwulfs birthday gift. I have to sew them up right, though.
After Goodwill, I walked down the strip mall sidewalk to the Dollar General Store. God help me, I love a bargain. I needed 1) Cold medicine and 2) Razors. Left with those items, some "White RAIN" shampoo (my favorite because it has my name on it), some Gator-Ade (no orange juice stuff - not even Tang! WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TANG IS?!?!?! ARRGH!! I'm old! WAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!), a scrub top (even in my size) and a bag of Fritos! Yes, Fritos aren't considered health food by many folks but I say that they are "Mental Health Food" and will bite anyone who disagrees with me. *Gnash gnash gnash!*
I like to say the word "Tang". It's funny. Kind of like "Spatula". For some reason, whenever I hear the word "Spatula", I think of something with fangs, a black cape and bat wings. "I vant to zuck yer grease!"
Have you ever noticed that if you put an extra ) under a smiley face that it appears as if your smiley has a double chin? :)) I'm going to do that from now on. It's a more correct representation of what I look like. HA HA HA! :))
When I was little and really sick, my mom used to buy me toys, usually stuffed animals. I have always loved those critters and still have most of them. Thus, when I'm not feeling well, I buy myself toys. This week, I purchased a stuffed donkey from the hospital gift shop. I named her Ramona (though her tag says her name is Donahugh. Yuk!) I am thinking of adding her to my comic strip but I'm not sure what type of personality to give her. I was thinking of lazy but then I already have Fontaine, the bear who sleeps all the time. Any suggestions???
Well, I think I'm going to go read for a bit. Am quite pooped. Still not 100% but getting better.

I sing the body of pancake!
OK. I was off all day. I had no idea why I was so out of it until I got home. I laid on the couch petting the cat and then I woke up about 30 minutes later. I feel tons better! I had a headache when I woke up and all through out the day. I was getting nauseated. On the drive home, I was hoping and praying, "Just let me make it one more day. I don't mind being sick over the weekend!" Now I feel fine. Weird.
Clinical went well. Breezed through all but two of my unknowns. :D Took an exam and made an 88%. Worked through half of my lunch and left early. (See above paragraph to know what I did when I got home early.) Am looking forward to tomorrow as I am working in the evening again and, more than likely, will have off on Friday. :D (This is because I finished all my Micro training and my prof is going on vacation that day. She's taking her kids to DC.)
I am thinking about what I want to do when I have a week off at the end of this semester. I was thinking of going to see family in WV. I don't know. I really won't have the money to do that. The cost of gas and a hotel would deplete my bank accounts to zero. However, I may think about meeting up with coonwulf out in Philadelphia and go to the zoo there. OR, have him come out here, we drive to Silver Springs, pick up the metro and go to the zoo down in DC. (It's a FREE zoo!!) I don't know. I'm just thinking right now. I love and hate zoos. It's depressing to go to an animal prison but that is the only way I'll ever get to see tigers, lions, etc... and the DC zoo has PANDAS!!
Tonight, I'm going to relax. It's really humid so I don't think I'll go pull weeds. Blah. |

Excuse if there area any typos in this ... the straitjacket is a bit too tight.
OK. Micro rotation. Blah blah blah. No exciting, "OMG! WTF is THIS???" stuff. E. coli, E. coli, Staph. aureus, Staph. aureus....
First day in outpatient clinic for two hours. Worked for about 90 minutes. Screwed off for 30. Got paid for 120. :)
SQUEE of the Day: My supervisor in the outpatient clinic said that, when the new trainee starts, I may get to go to micro lab and streak out plates! I love micro! :D
Oh, more micro rotation: My teacher bragged on me all day. I was half asleep but I did recognize praise. Ha ha!
Her Royal Majesty, the Queen Cockleburr, came downstairs, jumped on my bed and breathed in my face at 5:30 this morning. Cat breath first thing in the morning? Take my advice: roll back over and don't get up. I ignored her until she started smacking me around, "I know you're awake, dammit!!" Why do I have a cat again?
Must watch cartoons and veg out.
PS: New icon -> "Morning of the Living Dead". |

My brain is in a frying pan. It is all greasy and crispy. MMMMMMM. :9
Today was weird. I had to set up my unknowns (this is for my practical/test) so that all went well. About 1/2 way through the day, my prof had to leave as she was feeling like poop. Both her kids have Strep. Now her throat is sore. Guess what she has. So, after she left, I continued setting up the analyzer and the quality control stuff. Then I got to do a SHITLOAD of neat set ups - regular old urine set up but some wounds, too. One of them was REALLY purulent. :P I think the woman has something wrong. A sample with blood should not be orangey reddy whitey gooey. BLARGH!
Came home. Ate supper. Now I'm posting on Live Journal.
Oh! I heard from likeshine today. I had ordered a con badge from her but TOTALLY spaced on picking it up when I was at AC. She emailed me today and asked if I'd pay pal her the money and send an extra $1 for shipping. Dude. Since she was so nice to save it for me, I sent her a tip! I hope to get it soon. She's sort of popular in Anthro Art. I can't believe I forgot to pick it up. I was just so rushed at this year's convention. :( Won't be like that next year. In 2009, I'm going for a couple of DAYS not just a few hours! DAMMIT! Hell, this year, I didn't even get to see Tiggy after meeting him this year. DUH!
Just got an idea for a bad illustration/joke for an ATC. MWA-HA-HA-HA!
Oh, speaking of ATCs. I did an illustration of a bison last night that is absolutely fabulous! I might list it for sale on eBay. :) I mean, it is THAT good that I think I could sell it. I don't say that about a lot of my artwork.
Well, off to do homework.
Please pray for/prey for/think of me tomorrow... I start drawing blood again. I hate doing that but it's all I got right now. Sigh. |

Found a place in CA that sells fun fur in the color I need. It's around $15 a yard but it's 60" wide so that should be MORE than enough for the little bits of yellow-orange that I need for the tail, face and paws. :D
Need to start saving up for AC 09. Looks like I will need around $600 for a room and parking for the four days. Maybe less. I dunno. coonwulf mentioned he might be interested in sharing a room. I just need to get some $$ saved. :) Since I start work next week, my financial aid will come in September AND I have a birthday in September (Dad always gives me $$), I think I will be set.
