Despite the fact that I feel that I am allegeric to EVERYTHING, I'm not. :( I did, however, find out that I'm allergic to a lot of trees as well as a LOT of mold. I even showed some sensetivity to penicillin. :P I am not allergic to cockleburr but I am allergic to Her Royal Majesty the Queen Cockleburr - meaning, not the plant but the cat. :P Ugh. I still have a few wheals showing on my arm. :S I got 62 pricks and you can insert a dirty joke of your choice here. :S
While in the office, I found the January 2009 issue of Hemmings Motor News. I am such a geek. I was reading an article about this ugly old electric car built back in the 1970s when the doctor came in. Since I wasn't finished, I took the rag. Does anyone else do this? Steal old magazines from doctor's offices? WTH is wrong with me?!
Oh? The ugly electric car? Here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citicar With a range of 40 miles! Crap! That wouldn't even get me to and from work for one day! Ugh.
Also, I know a little about cars. I like machines, what can I say? (Seriously, half of my current job is maintenance on machines.) I know that there are more automakers throughout history than the ones still in production today. (IE: Duesenberg where the phrase, "It's a Doozy" came from, as well as Studebakers, Pierce Arrows, etc etc etc. But there are automakers in this magazine that I have never EVER heard of! COOL! :D IE: WTH is a Bizzarrini? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizzarrini Gosh! Wikipedia! Is there ANYTHING you don't know? |

OK. Link to picture of my commissioned fursuit that got all F'ed up. http://i452.photobucket.com/albums/qq242/KittCreations/Official%20Fursuit%20Gallery/Esuterure%20Fursuits/CatPartial.png
Happy Birthday, Nikolai Tesla! The quintessential Mad Scientist!
I posted about the fursuit commission on my Fur Affinity account. I am getting a lot of support on there. It's nice to see that. I've also been pointed towards some communities on LJ through them - about posting a review of the experience with her and my purchase.
I'm being attacked by my cat.
A commission from Kalika: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2493596/ I met her at AnthroCon and commissioned her to draw a con badge for me. Isn't it awesome!? The colors are SOO vibrant and intense! Love it. :D
I'm still stopped up/congested/sick to my stomach. Have to go be a dartboard at nine. More later. |

Forgot to show you all this: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/2487728/
This is a black and white (duh) illustration I am working on. I refer to this type of doodle as "kaleidoscopic" because it reminds me of what you see through a kaleidoscope. As you can see, I haven't added the color yet... that's when these things really come alive. Will work on that as time allows. |

*STAY BACK!* I'm warning you! I have CON CRUD!!! Or that brain rotting, phlegmy wheezing stuff Dad had. :S Either way, I can't breathe. OK. Normally, I can't breathe... now I'm suffocating. GAH! :-P
Work was absolutely apeshit. Mind you, when we're crazy, I usually have some interesting things to talk to you about. Tonight is NO exception. :D
One of our "frequent fliers" was in. Claiming he had a seizure. Well, he's a drug user and that probably is all you need to know about him. Another frequent guest came back... she was having a diabetic problem. I think she was having an overly-medicated problem as her glucose levels were on the high end of normal. That's beside the point, though. I did FOUR drug screens this evening (now that we have the QC) and all four were positive. Dude. WTH?! It's friggin' Wednesday! Where the hell do you find a party on a Wednesday?! Our Frequent Guest was one of those, thus the over medicated remark.
If I am allowed to, I may swab my throat and see if I have strep. We've had a lot of patients coming in with sore throats lately... only one was strep.
Tomorrow is my last day for the rest of the week! YAY! I can come home and sleep so I will be ready to become a dart board Friday morning.
Oh, I found out why AnthroCon didn't have access to the Omni hotel! Talk about small world stuff! As I was talking to a coworker, she mentioned that she had been away in Pittsburgh all weekend. I said I was, too. She was at a MENSA meeting (national) and her husband was 2nd in command. (She's a member, too.) OMG! So, for those of you who want a WTFery for the week, there you go... MENSA and Furries in Pittsburgh. Throw in someone like Marilyn Manson or Jeffry Dahmer and you got yourself a self-writing comic strip/ stand up joke.
She also said that I could write this: during the fancy schmancy dinner parties, she got assigned to sit next to the (in)famous, Doctor Demento! ARGH! Now I'm cheesed that I didn't get to go. At one point, everyone broke out their cell phones and swayed to the sweet refrain of "Dead Puppies". One more time for Roman Hruska! |

The "company" I bought the fursuit partial from is harassing me. I didn't wear the suit at AnthroCon in the fursuit parade. First of all, as I mentioned earlier, I want to do some modifications to it since I don't like the handpaws - especially due to the fact that the orange blotches are on the wrong sides of the arms. Anyway, these two kids got their panties in a pinch. I wanted the suit to wear to AC. I never promised that I would or that I was going to. I said that IF I got it on time - and since I had to wait until the day I fuckin' LEFT FOR THE CON - no, I didn't. Yes, they busted their collective asses to get it done but they screwed around for over two months... my fault? No. So, don't order from them. Now I have to find out how to block them on my Gmail account and on Furry 4 Life. I should have known not to do business with them... especially not the "owner" since she has a reputation as being a psycho and was REMOVED from Fur Affinity because of all the shit she started. All this hassle just because I wanted to help out the psycho bitch who was desperate for money.
Work was busy as all hellfire. A patient with a critically low hemoglobin (I thought it was a diluted specimen!) Was in and out of blood bank and micro. One patient on the verge of death and then who crossed it. :( One of the fucking analyzers wouldn't work and I had no quality control fluids to make it work. Dayshift came in and said, "Oh, yeah. Sorry about that." WTF?! They KNEW and didn't tell anyone else?! ARGH!
I try to help people out and I get shit on. I do my best at my job only to get screwed. I need another vacation - this one to last for the rest of my life... such as it is. I don't know if I need a hug or to punch something.
Goes over to sit with gravehearted... we'll have a Grumpapalooza and kill anyone who comes within ten feet. |

Work was workish.
Photos From AnthroCon: http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa188/rainoubliette/AnthroCon%202009/ I thought cornerofmadness would want to see the dragon and the cthulu. The fox is my friend from WV, Dante. The black and white dog is actually a hyena named Yuchi. She's awesome. :) The white dog in the pink sarong is Lady, my friend from KY. Lastly, there is a photo of coonwulf in his kigumrumi jammies. :) I have a ton of other pictures but these were my favorites. :D
I still feel sore. The drive was horrible Saturday. I feel as if I've been in a mosh pit for four hours! My neck is particularly sore. :( Pouts.
To recap, I went to AnthroCon in Pittsburgh, PA, about a four hour drive from my home. I've already told you about Friday night, so here is Saturday's events.
Woke up at 700 am, got a shower and put on my kigurumi of Ossuary that I made. That's the black pajamas style thing made from polar fleece. Well, I managed to get downstairs and out the door when I realized that if I walked any further, I was going to die of heat stroke. Fat woman + polar fleece + 80 degrees Fahrenheit + 80% humidity = Dead Rain Oubliette. So, I went back upstairs, took a shower, put on my tail and went to the "Lady Fur" mixer over at the Westin.
Met several nice ladies. One from just across the state line in Carroll County, Maryland. Seriously, she works with people from Hanover, the town where my job is! Also met several folks from Pittsburgh, some from Allentown, then outside of PA, they came from VA, GA, England, the Netherlands, etc. Nice group. Chatted with quite a few different women. I believe one was transgendered but she was nice so who cares, right?! I was there for over the time allotted. Wound up running with some of the Allentown crew down to the Dealer's Den.
I bought a pair of ears that I liked... then realized it was 1100 and I had to check out by 1200!! So, I bade my farewells and beat feet back to the Courtyard. There, I fielded some phone calls and cleaned up. I then called the front desk and the valet met me out front with my little red Cavalier (let's hear Prince's song about one of them!) I then drove around the block and got a parking spot in a lot for $10 for the entire day. :D Ch-CHING!
Phone call from coonwulf led me back up to the Westin. Met up in the lobby, got the photo you see in the link above. We then went to the Dealer's Den and Artist's Alley. We were looking for 0uka - also known as Lady - to pick up some pre-ordered con badges. Well, she didn't get a table in Artist's Alley that day so we didn't find her. (I did see her later.) Disappointed, we wandered off into the Dealer's Den. Oy! I spent SO much money! I'm not kidding! I went nuts. I got a present for Barb, one for Garden Fairy, and a shit load for me! MWA-HA-HA-HA-HA! I saw this one lady who had done this illustration of a female red fox rockin' out with a guitar... I asked, "Cassie the Rock Vixen?" Yes, it is. Ha ha! I also got to see Holly Ann whom I know through the Furry Art Card Exchange. :D I commissioned two or three people to draw art for me. One is Meg Lyman, the lady who does all the cutest octopuses and other cephalopods! SQUEE! :D coonwulf got tired of following me around and went to go get something to eat. I went to find a place to sit down to watch the parade. Took crap loads of pictures.
After all that, I met up with Dante on my way out. We sat in the Westin watching people and chatting. I had to leave around 400, though. I was just too tired. Then I had to drive in circles to find the stupid road I wanted. The Garmin does NOT work worth a crap when down in town. Bastard! It kept telling me to take lefts when I knew I needed to go right! GRRR. But, I sort of knew where I was going so I was ok.
Tah-dah. The end. |

Am home and sore. The drive is terrible! Especially if you do it one day after another. The turnpike to P'burgh is like riding a bucking bronco for four hours. Sucks. My back, arms and legs hurt. I only stopped once. Just to get some chips and soda. Came home, took crap out of car, dumped it in bedroom, watched some tv with dad and fell asleep. Will post more later when I am feeling better. Thank God this is a short week for me. I have Thursday off... due to a doctor's appointment on Friday that will take FOUR HOURS! ARGH! Need to start cleaning and organizing stuff. Will post more later.
O. Comic is up, too. |

(X-Posted from "Art Fumes" journal - I'm sorry if you see this twice) I'm in my hotel at AnthroCon. I worked a full shift at the hospital, drove out to Pittsburgh from where I live (south of Harrisburg), got my room, napped, got up and went to the Hard Rock Cafe with Coonwulf. Now I'm getting ready for a shower and then to bed. Got an early AM mixed with other "lady furs" and then to hit the dealer's room/artist's alley! YAY! In the afternoon, after the fursuit parade, I will probably head home. I imagine I will be quite pooped.
As a side note, the food at the Hard Rock was AWESOME! Got to see some concert footage of Eric Clapton and the Ramones (SQUEE!). There wasn't any memorabilia from the latter band there but I did see an autographed guitar from the late Kurt Cobain.
I know I say this every year but, NEXT YEAR, I really have to spend the whole weekend out here. So much to do. So much to see. Can't do it all in only one day. :S
The hotel is very nice. Expensive but nice. Big room. Big bed. Internet is free (well, they say it's free but you know). It's also not even a block from the convention. Awesome. Love that part.
I DID GET THE COSTUME! Not as nice as I had hoped (just a few minor things) but it was a rush job (due to artisan errors) and was made at a cheap price. I will admit that the tail alone is well worth what I paid to have the whole partial made. The hand and feet paws are nice, too. The hand paws need a bit of work but I will do that when I get home. So, for the con, I do have a HUGE HUGE HUGE tail - the thing is FIVE FEET LONG of fluffy, fuzzy yumminess! :D Yes, I am wearing it now. Hee hee. Actually, now that I think about it, I retract what I stated. It is a great suit. The ears just don't work for me. The hand paws need a bit of modification. Those are my two complaints and I can fix both of them when I get home. :D I GOTSA TAIL!
Coonwulf and I walked to the Hard Rock. I'm quite "moist" and tired. I need to get return directions home and then I'm off to sleep. Night. |

It's 9:00! What are you doing online, Rain?! Well, I'm PRAYING and HOPING that the fursuit of Rain arrives in today's mail. I'm waiting here for the mail carrier (who is female... femail?) Soon as it arrives, I'm bat out of hell. I have to go to the credit union then I'm on my way. I do want to wash my hair and shower before I go. I also have to pack (clothing - everything else is ready). I called the hotel and my room is blocked in, as the counter guy said. I've already been "honned". ("I like this room right here so I'll give it to you, hon," he said as he reserved the room for me.) Nice that they're friendly out there. Of course, if you had a HUGE influx of people with loads of cash coming into your town, you'd be honning them, too! Hey! Rendell! Maybe you should do something similar so you could balance the state budget!
Work was boring. Seriously. We had maybe 5 or 6 patients. Most were chest pains. One was a real heart attack. Had one thing just strike me as all out silly.
We have what is called a tracker. It let's me know who is in the emergency department and what their complaint is so that I can prepare for what will be ordered as a lab test. No problem. It lists the bed the patient is in, their initials, age and complaint. Tonight, we had a complaint of "motor vehicle". I started laughing... "How'd they get a CAR in the ED???" This lead to much discussion between me and my phlebotomist as to what on an automobile would correspond to human parts. Transmission fluid = synovial (joint) fluid. Oil = blood. Particulate matter in oil = sepsis. etc. I guess you had to be there. It was really funny.
I am going to take my laptop with me... but probably not get online. (I'll use it as a DVD player.)
I told Dad that I was staying at the Courtyard by Marriott. His reaction, "WHOOO!" I could hear the cash registers going off. OK. I could have found a place cheaper. Not a problem. The problems would have been parking, food, neighborhood, etc. I told him I'd rather pay for the expensive hotel since I will have a nice room, parking, close to the con (two blocks), good neighborhood, etc. Also, this is my first vacation on my own, by myself, alone. I want to be in a reputable building with a conscientious staff... not some dive where the rooms are rented by the hour. And, since I am paying a lot of $$ for the room, I do plan on spending time there. Probably wind up awake at 4am so I can lounge in the tub and read... watch DVDs on the laptop... and just relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. |

Got an email from the fursuit builder I commissioned to make a partial suit of Rain. She sent a photo of her in a project she is working on. She added a caveat before the photo to the effect of warning me that she was black.
As you all know, color, religion, financial status, sexual orientation, etc don't mean much to me. Granted, I have the social skills of a Nerf ball (soft and clumsy) having been raised by parents who were both introverts. But I have no idea how to reply to the seemingly sheepish admission of her race. She didn't even capitalize the B even though she uses proper grammar and writing rules. Should I even acknowledge it? She's a very nice person and quite talented. She has fantastic seamstress skills. I value her talent, honesty (a hard thing to come by sometimes), and her openness. If anything, she should be proud of her heritage. It gave her a lot of good attributes.
So, anyway, how I have managed to have so many good, sympathetic friends like you despite the fact that I am a total flake and social inept, I have no idea. Thanks for being here, though. I truly value all of you despite the fact that some closed-minded people wouldn't.
Thanks again. |

Work was fine. Not a lot to write home about.
NEED CRITIQUE!! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2460682/ This is my preliminary flyer for "Art Fumes" to distribute at AnthroCon. Suggestions?
WTF-ery: How can a radio station call itself "Rock's cutting edge" when it plays some of the same songs as this other station that says it plays "Rock WITHOUT the hard edge"? Seriously. Our version of "The X" (mostly Nirvana, Soundgarden type bands) plays a few of the same songs as does our "River" station. WTF?!
I am going to be SOOOOO tired after this convention. Good thing I'm asking for PTO next week. I want to take Thursday night off so that I can go to my allergist appointment - you know the one: it takes 'em four plus hours to use you as a pincushion to see if you react to anything. I'll be glad for that. :)
I took the Garmin GPS unit to work. I had it "take" me to work. It's ok. I also had it drive me home. I named it Garmin San Fransisco. If you get that joke, I'm sorry. If you don't, you're lucky. I will explain it if you don't get it.... but you won't like it.
Off for a nice piece of cake.
Happy PURRthday to Donna!! It's sometime around now. Happy PURRthday to foxonian a bit early. I am still looking for a box. |

First, a new link for you: http://thereifixedit.com/ OMG! The first photo is of a rigged "fire alarm"... LOL! :D I could see a lot of things I've "repaired" featured on this site. :D
Work was absolutely whack. The ER was full as was the waiting room. Most cases were REAL emergencies, too, not some dipshit whining about a hangnail or something. One patient had to be "airwolfed" out because he was so far gone. Diagnosis? Possible overdose. Uh, what? OK, yeah, he's unresponsive and has some opiates in his system (could very well have been a medication, folks, like Valium) but his troponin level was 2.something. TWO! Our analyzer flags 0.1 as a critical result! OY!
Got email from fursuit maker... my partial is to be shipped to me today! *Does happy dance* Will post photos when it arrives. She even made a hoodie for me with ears! :D MEOW!
Lady, my friend in KY, is staying at the same hotel I am for AC. :D
Went to Browns. Got me a piece of chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. Yes, work was really that bad. But hey, I survived it AND got everything done for the most part. QC was still running on a couple of things but Terry will take care of that for me. :) Awesome when you have coworkers to lean on.
Also bought a petunia. Don't really care all that much for them but this one is nice. I have a big pot to put it in. :)
Now to have piece of cake. :) |

Work was fine. We have Dr. Contino and Dr. Tauscher - the love 'em and leave 'em docs - this week. :)
Played with the Garmin. Made reservations for a room at the Courtyard Marriott about 2 blocks from the Westin and the David L Lawrence Con. Cent. :D Also found it on the Garmin so I shouldn't have any trouble getting there. Once I'm there, I probably will go over to the Westin, register and all that. Maybe get something to eat. Head back to my hotel and crash.
As promised, KIGURUMI PHOTOS! Hood up: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2451908 (My face looked very fat in this photo so I chopped Ossuary's head off and put it on there.) Hood down: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2451913/ (Faces is made of felt and an old sweatshirt. Paws are gloves that I painted. Cross bones on the chest are polar fleece.) Full body shot: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2451916/ (You can't see it but there really is a tail there.)
Next Friday, I have an appointment with an allergist. :S I am asking to get that day off (dare I say it?! I dare!) with pay! I do have PTO. :D Just a bit. And, after working a full eight hour shift, I really am not going to feel like sitting in a doctor's office for four more hours. :P
That blender is awesome. Made a berry cherry smoothie for desert. Oy! Don't think I can finish it! Made it with a bit of milk and a touch of frozen yogurt. :9 |

Finished the kigurumi outfit. Was working on the mask for the Rain fursuit I had commissioned but I don't know if I can make it work. Got really frustrated with it and gave up. :S I slept a lot, too. Also read. I finished the book about ghost ships - it's a scientific look at why boats go missing and a bit of history about the famous ships. Neat. Started reading "Death of Innocents". You know you're reading a good, well written true crime book when the first few chapters piss you off. >:)
Yesterday, my horses won their races. Meaning Rachel Alexandra won the Mother Goose race - of course, she only beat TWO horses as it was only a three horse field! Not too impressed there. Then, Zenyatta won her race, against several horses and she was carrying extra weight (more than any of the others) and she STILL beat the saddles off them! :D
Comic strip is up.
Was commissioned by my boss to do a prank for the day shift supervisor. He asked me to make a box of cereal called Pharmios for the day shift gal. She takes a LOT of medication. Thus, this project: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2448208/
Am now going to shower and maybe not do a damned thing all day.
Oh, hey, foxonian, I got you a present. Just need to get a box at work to put it in! :D YAY! |

Next weekend is AnthroCon in Pittsburgh, PA. I will be attending for Saturday only - same as last year. I was going to try to get a room at a hotel near the convention center but the closest ones are either booked or given poor reviews or about 1/2 mile away from the center. So, I'm thinking of getting a hotel off of the toll road, spending Friday night at the hotel to just sleep or lounge by a pool for a while, then get up and go to the center on Saturday morning. How's that sound? Keep in mind, I'm traveling solo. I may ask Garden Fairy if she wants to go even though she isn't a furry.
Oh, and technically, I'm not up late, I'm up early. Hee hee. |

Work was good. The coagulation analyzer was back up and running. Very happy to see that. The old one was difficult to operate because it is so temperamental.
Yes, I saw that Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson both died. I was never a fan of Farrah, can't name anything she ever did (but then, I don't watch sitcoms or movies much, if at all) but I did know that she was extremely ill with cancer. I always hate to see someone die from that... since the disease haunts my family so. As to The King of Pop... WTF. My first thought was to be snarky and say, "You mean just NOW? Hell, his career has been dead since, what? The mid-90s?" but that's just a veneer. I will admit that yes, I owned "Thriller", loved the video, and the songs from said album. I will also admit that though he was a pop artist, he did some great music as far as pop goes. It's so unfortunate that most folks only remember his latter life - with all the controversy and weirdness (I mean, weirdness in a bad way, not a good/cute way like, say, Gonzo the Great). In some ways, I've always felt a bit sorry for him since he never had a childhood and then Pepsi fire fiasco. Yeah, he had a lot of money but then he pissed it all away because of the court hearings and crap. Stupid. I think it's a waste of talent. However, I can't really imagine a seventy year old Michael Jackson... kind of like trying to see a eighty year old Elvis. I just couldn't envision it... so maybe it is better for him to go now.
After work, I went to Wal-Fart. Bought a GPS thing. Got a blender, too, the cheapest they had. I made a smoothie type thing (sans alcohol this time). Bought some food, a DS game, etc. Mostly just food.
Well, I'm going to go to bed. I'll try to get up later and finish the pajamas so I can post photos. :) I purchased a set of black cloth gloves at the Wal-Fart, too, so I can use them with said costume. I'll put paw pads on them and then lengthen them.
One last note: You have to love geeks. I got the newest ish of "Discover", a serious science magazine. Has a big article on Stephen Hawking as well as one about how bacteria communicate but there is also a little blurb in the first few pages about the next DVD release of MST3K shows. HA! GEEKDOM! |

Work wasn't such a steaming pile of horse shit today. :) I'm back to loving my job.
While enjoying my mixed berry drink, I worked on the kigurumi project. Oh my God. The hood is just SO cute! I should be able to finish that part up today. Next will be paws. I don't know if I'm going to put wings on the costume or not. I did buy some fabric so that I can do that. I can always add them in the future, I suppose. Oh, and I need to add the bones to the front of the body. (I mean, how else can I say my character is named Ossuary if she hasn't got her bones?!) The whole project is turning out better than I had anticipated. I don't know if I could handle making these as a job though. It's a bitch! Plus, I don't have the time to devote to this other than just to play. I couldn't make money at it. |
